This time I'm going to talk about a videogame I'm really into: Osu!mania.
I've always enjoyed videogames, like most of the people, although I've never had good reflex for platform and fighting games like Mario Bros or Street Fighter haha. The reflex thing led me to play more Role Play Games (RPG's) in my adolesence. For example, Pokémon was a RPG where battle dynamics depended more on the combatant pokémon's level, his individual battle statistics and the effectivity of every move I choose. So until that moment I never needed to improve in my reaction speed and stuff.
I also played Massive Multiplayer Online Role Play Games (MMORPG's) with my friends like World Of Warcraft and King Of Kings. But I got bored because all these videogames were very complex to become familiar with and also the status you have above other players is usually settled by the level and money you have in the game. Basically you need to play more time and invest real money to be considered a good player on this games. I was disappointed when I found out that true. It was in that moment when I discovered Osu!mania.
Osu! is a free and open-source rhythm game. That means the game creators just designed the software, game dynamics, forums and stuff, but the players are the ones who design the BeatMaps (BM's) for the game. BM's are the combination of songs and a button layout where you have to hit the buttons at the song's pace. You can freely download songs from the official Osu! website. You can search for the song you want and, if it isn't there, you can always make your own BM's. Songs typically feature various BM's with different difficulties (measured by the amount of stars).
There are some different modes of Osu!: Osu!, Osu!taiko, Osu!catch and Osu!mania. The last one is my personal favourite. If you've played Guitar Hero, you're probably familiar with Osu!mania's game dynamics. It's a game where musical notes come falling in their respective buttons, and you have to hit them at the right moment, following the song's pace.
                  

I like this game a lot because I feel like it's a real challenge. the game measures the accuracy you have hitting every note, and the notes you've hit in chain. Your performance is translated into performance points (pp's). People with most pp's are considered the best Osu!mania players. you can harvest a limited amount of pp's from every BM, so you'll be always pushed to move on and play new BM's. The harder the BM, the more pp's you can harvest from it. This is a reward system that encourages you to improve. And even when you're stuck in between certain difficulty levels, the game offers you other ways to get better.
There are "difficulty mods" that adds more difficulty to BM's and, in exchange, you can harvest some extra pp's. This mods consist in turn BM's twice as quick, or hiding notes, or making you lose immediately if you miss one note. You can even turn on many mods at the same time and harvest more and more pp's! 😝 at least, that's the way I improve and, while I'm on it, I gather some pp's 😍
I love Osu!mania because It's a game that's easy to understand and hard to master. It's truly gratifying to see your own performance layout on your website profile (I'm leaving my profile at the end of the post if you want to see it heehee). It's really exciting to play this kind of game where the world rankings are always changing and you need to be a little creative to improve. A game where the player's status doesn't come from the amount of time he played, or the money he invested, but from his real player skill.

Post Graduate Studies I Consider Taking In The Future

Previously, on my other blog entries, I've already talked about my deep interest in scriptwriting and everything related to that subject. Honestly, I haven't thought about my post graduate studies, mainly because I'm wide open to opportunities the future has for giving me. Although I keep enjoying scriptwriting above all, I'm still discovering more roles in filmmaking. I'm always enthusiastic about finding new ways of storytelling.
However, my priorities about learning still revolve around scriptwriting. So, for now, my post graduate studies seem to point to that role.
Regarding to the reasons to do the course, I already feel very familiar to the basic concepts. I'm always reading, watching videos or looking for more information about scriptwriting. In all these years learning, the most rewarding experiences have been workshop  thaught by people who lives of scriptwriting and storytelling. It's true that most of the info is right before our eyes, but it's also true that we ignore what we ignore. What I mean is that it's difficult to know what we're doing wrong if there isn't someone who knows enough to teach exactly what we're doing wrong and why.
No matter how proactive you are, you'll always improve faster and better if you're aside with a teacher. I know I would make the most of a scriptwriting post graduate.
I would like to develop all the knowledge I already have about the subject (character design, setting, theme developing, art) by writing stories and receiving feedback from my mentors. I still don't choose an specific genre, I would like to try most of them! I would gain a lot of experience. Also, that way I'll  definitely discover my own style.
Although I'd prefer to take my post graduate studies here in Chile, just because of the convenience, I'm gonna pursue every chance I have to achieve my goals of improving as storyteller, even if they're outside the country. So, it just depends on the opportunities that shows up for me.
About the way I would like to take the course, I'd prefer it to be face-to-face. It's truly necessary for me and my sense of discipline to go to a place with a teacher totally separated from my home. That way it's like I'm turning on a switch or something, haha! I need an atmosphere different from my home, so I don't procrastinate as I do in there :(

My Future Job :-)

When people asks me what I'd like to do for a living, I'm not very sure of what to answer. I don't have a clearly defined plan. I'm very conformist so I can be happy with things the future brings to me. Taking into consideration what I said, I'm going to explain my criterion to be happy at a job.
What I like to do the most are creative activities. That includes drawing, watching movies, TV shows and youtube videos; writing things, reading books and comics, always trying new things and that kind of stuff.
That's why I dream of a job that allows me to keep doing creative activities in my everyday life. On a job that leaves me a lot of free time to spend I would be as happy as on a full-time job that requires (and allows me) to learn a lot.
I'd prefer my job to be outodoors, because generally outdoor jobs requires more physicall energy than indoor jobs, where is more important to have a perfectly organizated schedule. Is very important to be organized in life, but I'm not very good at it. I'm better at getting used to routine activities. I also think that learning general thinks is more practical in real life than things you learn by getting more specialized in what you do. In this age, where everyone tend to specialize in what they do, I think it's important (and very useful) to be a person who haves more interpersonal abilities.
I would be happy on a job where I travel frequently. That way I could learn a lot, know many people and have beautiful experiences. Although I think it's enjoyable to travel, I don't think it's indispensable to learn important things. I think, wherever we are,essential knowledge is right within reach to learn.
Everything I already said was said leaving out the salary factor. I obviously can't have the benefit of choosing the most comfortable job if salary is not enough to live haha, but I'm good with a salary that's enough to pay my bills and have a little savings.
I think the best major for me (and the only one I feel attracted to) is the script writing in filmmaking and things like that (cartoons, comics). To write a script, you need to know everything about characters you're writing of. That includes their personalities, their careers and jobs, their personal issues, etc...
To do that, you need to know many people and learn many things. That way, ideas come even spontaneously! It's like I'm working as I live mylife, haha. Bye-bye!
